V12 is the flagship of the Crest Audio range of consoles. As
heir to the legendary Crest/Gamble EX Series, it carries the
same bloodlines of exceptional sonic purity and never-
say-die reliability. It also incorporates a score of new user-
friendly features, advanced MIDI-based, live performance
microprocessor control, and a level of configuration flexibility
not found in any other mixing console at any price.
But that’s only half the story.
In a matter of seconds, by activating a few mode switches,
you can transform a V12 into a full-featured monitor console
capable of generating up to 28 mixes.
V12 lets you configure systems to match different needs by
offering four primary frame sizes plus two SideCar expander
frames. When a particular application demands more inputs,
you simply link consoles or add SideCar expanders. However,
when fewer inputs are needed, consoles and SideCar
expanders can be used independently. (SideCars have a
basic master section and four independent VCA groups that
are well-suited to applications such as corporate meetings,
sporting events, etc.) Again, the idea is to keep all of your
console investment working all of the time.
Configuration flexibility also helps ease the squeeze in
tight quarters. If a mix position has limited width, linked con-
soles and SideCars can be set up in “L” or “U” configurations.
In some cases, SideCars may be placed at a remote location to
minimize the space occupied by the FOH mix booth.
Finally, smaller modular console configurations can save
on load-in/out time and labor costs, since moving a console in
sections is faster and takes fewer people to handle. All major
consoles systems are connected in linked operation, with
optional isolation of VCA Groups, standard Group buses,
manual Mute system, and Solo buses. In addition, the MIDI
mute system and Aux buses may also be isolated.
V12’s extensive input EQ and High Pass Filter facilities
provide precise sonic manipulation, whether for artistic
enhancement or pinpoint problem-solving. Input EQ is fully
parametric in all four bands, with 15dB of boost or cut and
a broad overlap of frequency bands for particularly difficult
problem fixes. All bands offer adjustable Q (bandwidth) from
0.7 to 3.0, the High and Low bands can be switched to bell
or shelf mode. Mono and Stereo modules have identical
EQ’s and High Pass Filters to eliminate confusion when
making adjustments in the heat of performance.
The HPF is sweepable from 20Hz to 400Hz with a slope
of 18dB per octave. The HPF is located before the pre-EQ
inserts, and is switchable in or out of circuit.
